Comics Artist Supreme Jack Kirby was honored with a street dedication on May 11 – location was Essex & Delancey near his NY birthplace.Kirby was the driving creative force behind many of Marvel’s key characters, such as Captain America, the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, The Hulk, The X-Men, The Inhumans, and The Eternals.
Comics pros such as Jim Steranko, Frank Miller, Bill Sienkiewicz, Alex Ross, Ann Nocenti, Mark Evanier, and Peter Kuper Were there to pay tribute to the legend.
Also in attendance were Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Former DC Comics President Paul Levitz, And New York City Council Member Christopher Marte. the Kirby family was there, including his daughter Lisa, and grandchildren Tracey, Jillian, and Jeremy, as was a large crowd of cosplaying fans.
This follows a similar dedication when the latest Fantastic Four Film was released.
